Due diligence, commissioning and handover inspections

Independent, module-level condition evidence for the moments when money changes hands: acquisitions, provisional and final acceptance, end of defects liability, warranty expiry and insurance claims.

Acquisition and refinancing due diligence

Financial models assume a certain module degradation rate and availability. A thermal inspection tells a buyer or lender what the plant actually looks like today: how many modules are already impaired, whether there are systemic issues such as PID or connector faults, and roughly what it would cost in lost yield to leave them. It is one of the cheapest ways to move a purchase price or a reserve account.

Commissioning and provisional acceptance

New plants are not fault-free. Transport damage, installation cracks, mis-wired strings and loose connectors are common at handover and are far easier to claim against the EPC before acceptance than after. An inspection at commissioning creates a baseline the owner can hold the contractor to.

End of defects liability period and warranty expiry

Module product warranties and EPC defects liability periods expire quietly. Owners who inspect a few months before expiry can raise claims with documented evidence. Owners who do not inspect usually pay for the same repairs themselves later.

Warranty and insurance claims

After lightning, flooding, storms or fire, an insurer or module manufacturer will ask what was damaged, where and how badly. A module-level thermal survey answers all three in a form an adjuster can work with, and separates event damage from pre-existing degradation.

What you receive

  • Module-level thermal survey of the plant or the affected area
  • Anomaly classification and severity in line with IEC TS 62446-3 practice
  • Estimated yield loss and a breakdown by fault type, suitable for negotiation
  • A dated, independent report your lawyers, lenders or insurer can rely on
  • Optional follow-up inspection to verify remediation

We work alongside your technical adviser, owner's engineer or loss adjuster and are happy to join calls to explain the findings.
